Nescafe Basement, Pepsi Smash achieve Big at PAS’14

BY AHMAD UZAIR | Pakistan Advertisers Society (PAS) awards 2014 were held last weak in a glittery ceremony that turned out to be surprisingly very glamorous right from the start.

This award show is being held with the motto “To celebrate, acknowledge and credit the most effective communications advertising campaigns in Pakistan”. The ceremony was attended by an array of media superstars that added much to the hype of this show. Many popular singers including Sajjad Ali, Ali Gul Pir, Adil Omar , Asim Azhar and legendary Arif lohar gave electrifying performances to make it a memorable night, but it was surely the entry of some dazzling dance performances given by Humaima Malik, Mathira and Sara loren that ignited the stage and left the audience asking for more.

According to Tribune, “Among the winners of the night were JWT Pakistan, IAL Saatchi & Saatchi and Farigh Four. In the Corporate Social Responsibility category, BBDO Pakistan won for its ‘Works that work for all’ campaign. Group M won an award for its ‘Walls Carte D’or’ campaign in the Ice-creams and Desserts category. For its ‘Hum Dosti Ko Bhulatay Nahin’ campaign, JWT won in the category of Telecom Hardware Manufacturer. National Foods for the award for its ‘National Recipe Masala’ campaign in the Confectionary and Snacks category”

More notably from musical side, Pepsi Smash won the award in the beverage-cold category. Pepsi Smash was the brainchild of the ace musician Farhad Humayun who came up with the idea of smash few years back which was quite a success. Unfortunately he won’t be looking after the show for the upcoming season.

Another success story by the name of Nescafe Basement was also awarded at the PAS that is a big thing for the show that mainly comprises of underground musicians under the mentorship of the music maestro Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan a.k.a Xulfi. With its second season aired few months back, it has made inroads into the masses and has left behind many other similar programs in terms of content as well as popularity.

All in all, It is great to see such activities happening quite often to honour the creativity and talent of our local media men who go on to eventually make it big on global scale.
