By Isbah Khalid:Pakistan’s film industry has been on a roll! What with one blockbuster film after another, it has definitely set out to woo us all. After Waar taking the lead in the action films genre, followed closely by an even more majestic Yalghaar which will be released this year- we now have another powerful film Two + Two. This Shahid Shafaat’s creation earlier known as Jhol was somewhat overshadowed by Reham Khan’s Jaanan and others like Waar 2 and Yalghaar. But the excitement is there as news regarding its cast and other essential bits roll out. The film is being produced by Epiction Films’ Hamza Ansari and Hassaan Azher.
Bilal Ashraf is making it big in the industry. After his debut in O21 back in 2013, he has been roped in by big names in the industry in four films. Speaking about Two + Two Bilal said, “It’s a crazy rollercoaster ride comedy.” Bilal won’t be seen in his usual soldier attire for in this film he will play the Doc! Let’s see how he carries that stethoscope around his neck.
Let’s talk about the other cast members; we have Ali Azmat portraying a character much like himself in real life. This is what Ansari had to say about his role, He’s a middle-aged police wala, who is totally ayaash. He’ll often be seen on his bike.” Doesn’t get better than that, does it? Playing the role of his father is the veteran actor Mustafa Qureshi. So basically this will be a father-son combo that is not to be missed. Also, making an appearance as Bilal Ashraf’s mother in the beautiful Babra Sharif. Urwa Hocane will be our rough and tough female character, and boy how we love such roles! Earlier Iman Ali was considered for the role but for obvious reasons it had to be reconsidered. “90% of our shoot is outdoors, and we’re showing Karachi’s culture in areas like Ranchore Lines and even parts of Hyderabad,” revealed Ansari. “So we needed someone who was very rough and tough for the role, and Iman was too delicate. We start rolling our cameras at 6am, and from day 1, we realised that Iman isn’t up to the role.”
As far as the story goes, the film shows the events of a single day and how all four unrelated characters meet in a totally unexpected way. How can a police wala, a doctor, a business woman and a villain all collide within a span of 7-8 hours of a single day is something that makes us scratch our heads but that is exactly what makes the story interesting. The action stunts in the film are choreographed by the same guy who did Jet Lee’s Hero. “60% of the scenes have been shot. The songs’ shoot is left and we have a bike chase sequence that’s lots of fun,” Ansari said. The film is set to be released on 14th February, 2016. Still sometime to go but we can’t wait!
